As the Chairman of Majlis Gagasan Malaysia, I have lodged a police report (attached) against the Attorney General (AG), Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali on 14th May, 2018 (yesterday). It is our hope that this action will assist our 7th Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir to direct the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to immediately start an investigation against the Attorney General for his failure to carry out his duty by not taking any action and hiding important evidence of the 1MDB case scandal. This has allowed the criminals who stole billions of dollars belonging to the people of Malaysia remains free from prosecution.
1MDB corruption scandal is the worst form of kleptocracy and Majlis Gagasan Malaysia wants justice to be served against the corrupt officials and those who collaborated with them. Corrupt officials in 1MDB had reportedly spent $200 million on real estate in Southern California and New York, $130 million on artwork, invested $100 million in an American music label and $265 million on a yacht. In total, 1MDB officials allegedly laundered more than USD$4.5 billion in funds through a complex web of opaque transactions and fraudulent shell companies with bank accounts in countries ranging from Switzerland and Singapore to Luxembourg and the United States based on the Department of Justice (DoJ) investigation.
It is also our hope that the Attorney General will be suspended during investigation and the necessary steps are taken to stop him from fleeing the country in order to avoid prosecution.
All Malaysian must do our utmost to uphold the Federal Constitution as the supreme law of the land, defend the rule of law and the cause of justice. The rule of law must prevail at all times.
