TO NOMINATE OR NOT TO NOMINATE? – MIC BRANCH NOMINATION

One does not need to be a legal expert to understand that, from the current legal perspective (High Court & ROS), Datuk Seri Dr. Subra’s team is the only legally recognised MIC entity.

To all strong supporters of Datuk Seri G. Palanivel’s team, please take note that approximately 200,000 to 270,000 MIC members may become non-members. This is based on the estimation that 1,500 to 2,000 branches will fail to submit nominations this weekend, causing those branches to be declared legally defunct. Such a situation would weaken our party considerably. Therefore, it is crucial that common sense prevails, and we avoid this outcome by all means.

Supporters of Datuk Seri G. Palanivel’s team must be pragmatic in light of the current situation and take steps to mitigate risk while awaiting the Court of Appeal’s decision. All branch chairmen in support of DSGP’s team should submit their nominations this weekend as a precautionary measure. This will prevent their branches from being declared defunct or potentially taken over by others electing new chairmen. In our party, everything begins at the branch level, so it is essential to retain your right to be heard and ensure the strength of our party. All branch chairmen must safeguard their place within the party to continue advancing our mission of serving our community and our country.

I call upon all MIC leaders to set aside personal differences and egos and encourage all branch chairmen to submit their nominations this weekend. In my opinion, any leader advising branch chairmen not to file their nominations is doing so for personal reasons, rather than from a legal standpoint.

I also appeal to Datuk Seri Dr. Subra’s team to ensure that no branch chairman or supporter of DSGP is victimised during the nomination process. All members have the right to support any leader during the election, and once the election is concluded, it is vital for us to close ranks and work together for the betterment of our party, our community, and our country.

MY FELLOW BRANCH CHAIRMEN, PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS AND SUBMIT YOUR BRANCH NOMINATIONS THIS WEEKEND.
